Bridges are among the most critical structures in road and rail transport. One fact is often overlooked: the parts that carry the most load, the piers, are underwater. Over time these areas can develop wear, cracks, marine growth and structural deformation.

Why an ROV?

Diver inspections in currents, low visibility and cold water are risky and time-limited. An ROV, tethered to a surface control unit, can work for hours and records every frame.

What we look for

  • Cracks, spalling and rebar corrosion on the pier body
  • Scour and fill loss around foundations
  • Marine growth density
  • Condition of protective coatings and pile connections

Reporting

For each pier we deliver video, stills and observation notes tagged with depth and position, ready for engineering teams to use in maintenance planning.
